Q. Do I need a doctor’s referral?
A. No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to receive treatment. However, if you have private health care insurance that you plan to utilize, you may need a doctor’s referral before your insurance company will cover the treatment. Each insurance plan is different so it is best to confirm with your insurance company.
Q. Does my plan cover massage therapy and physiotherapy?
A. You can contact your insurance company to find out what is covered under their plan. Things you should inquire about your plan are:
• Can my treatment be direct billed or will I have to pay for my treatment and submit my receipts?
• Is a referral required for physiotherapy and/or massage therapy.
• Is there any deductible I will be responsible for?
• What percentage of each treatment is covered? (eg. 80%)
• Is there a maximum per treatment? (E.g. 100% covered up to what maximum value?)
• What is the maximum yearly coverage?
You are responsible for any amount not covered by your health care plan.
Q. Do you direct bill insurance companies?
A. We direct bill all health insurance plans that allow direct billing. Unfortunately, not all health care plans allow direct billing. It is best to confirm with your insurance company.
Q. How long does an appointment last?
A. Your first appointment will be about one hour, but may be longer depending on your injuries and treatments. Subsequent appointment can range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes.
Q. Do I need to bring anything?
A. You should bring your referral with you if you have one. If you have coverage under a private health care plan please bring your policy information with you if it is one that we will be billing directly on your behalf.
Bring any paperwork or information that you have if you are coming for treatment due to a work related or motor vehicle related injury.
Q. What should I expect at my first visit?
A. Your therapist will perform an assessment. You will be asked a series of questions that will help better describe all of your symptoms in detail. This will be followed by an examination of the areas causing concern and associated areas. Following the assessment, the findings, your goals and available treatment options will be discussed.
Q. What should I wear?
A. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. In many cases, we’ll need to assess how you move so wear clothes that that do not restrict your movement.
